Johnny is a little wannie from the Island of the Wannies. He was thrown out of the choir by the monk, for stealing the key to the chapel. One of the kids left in the choir is glad he was thrown out because he made fun of him all the time.[1] The other kid doesn't believe Johnny took the key.[2]
After that he can be found walking around near the Village of the Wannies, playing with his ball. When Twinsen talks to Johnny, he tells him that he stole the key, boxed it in, and gave it to the old man.[3]
